CYCLING FEDERATION OF NIGERIA HONORS GOV. WIKE, SIM FUBARA - AS KROTIMI EMERGES OVERALL WINNER OF CHAMPIONSHIP

The Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and his successor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, have been conferred with honours by the Cycling Federation of Nigeria (CFR) during the one day National Cycling Road Championship organized and sponsored by the Rivers State government as part of events marking the handover activities slated for Monday, May 29, 2023.
The cycling championship rated to have raised the bar and established a new cycling record in Africa was held in Port Harcourt on Sunday, May 21, 2023, with cyclists featuring in four (4) different categories to include Elite Male, Elite Female, Junior Male and Junior Female.

Speaking at the event, Gov. Nyesom Wike commended the cycling federation of Nigeria for engaging the youths positively through cycling, adding that the exercise has succeeded in showcasing the landmark projects and urban renewal strides of his contribution to the development of Rivers State.
The governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government and also the chairman of the Transition Committee, Dr. Tammy Danagogo noted that the modest efforts in road and other infrastructures are the legacies that will speak for a long time as they will continue to add beauty to the landscape of the state.

In his remarks, the President of the Cycling Federation of Nigeria (CFN) Engr. Giandomenico Massari, expressed the gratitude of the federation to Governor Nyesom Wike, for executing world class road projects in the State which have direct bearing on the development of cycling in the country, as the federation hopes to collaborate in order to take adequate advantage of the well designed roads and flyovers to improve on their capacity for optimum performance in global and continental championships.
Engr. Massari,  appreciated the Rivers State government for the magnanimity extended to the cycling community in Nigeria to participate in the exercise.

The epoch making championship came to an eventful close with the presentation of trophies and cheques to the following winners with Precious Effiong and Etobong Patience from Rivers State emerging first in the Junior male and female categories respectively; while Krotimi Abaka from Balyesa State and Ukpeseraya Ese from Delta State emerged first in the male and female elites categories. Prizes were also presented to other runner ups in the various categories.
