Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has debunked reports of the sacking of himself and Dr Mike Ozekhome as Kanu’s counsels by Kingsley Kanu, saying such notice was “defamatory, insulting and unauthorised.”Ejiofor stated these in a statement issued on Thursday evening after his visit to Nnamdi Kanu at the Headquarters of the Department of State Services in Abuja.
According to him, the mischievous falsehood was spewed to ridicule and embarrass the legal team.
There had been reports that the family of Nnamdi Kanu sacked Ozekhome (SAN) and Ejiofor, according to a statement by Kingsley “Kanunta” Kanu in a statement he posted on his Twitter handle on Thursday.
Attached with the photograph of the dismissal notice, Kanunta Kanu wrote, “I hereby formally notify @MikeozekhomeSAN and @IfeanyiEjiofor that their services are no longer required in #MaziNnamdiKanu case pending before the Supreme Court of Nigeria and all concerning him.”
